HP Launches PCs for U.S. Hispanic Consumers

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

In response to increasing demand from the Hispanic community, HP has announced two additions to its HP Pavilion product line specifically for U.S. Hispanic consumers.

The two additions to the HP Pavilion product line are HP Pavilion a6005y Desktop and
HP Pavilion a1726x Desktop with Windows Vista Home Premium.

With HP Pavilion a6005y Desktop, consumers can customize their PC with the Spanish versions of Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Home Premium. Also featured in the PC are a Spanish keyboard and optional Spanish versions of popular software including Norton Internet Security, Microsoft (News - Alert) Office and Roxio Creator.

Spanish-language documentation including Easy Set-Up instructions and software manuals will also be provided to the consumers.

The second addition to the HP Pavilion product line-- HP Pavilion a1726x Desktop with Windows Vista Home Premium allows customers to choose English or Spanish at the initial set-up phase. The PC includes multimedia keyboards for both Spanish and English-language users.

A 320 gigabyte hard drive is featured in this PC that can hold up to 134,000 photos. The PC also boasts 1,024 megabyte memory, Intel (News - Alert) Pentium D processor and SuperMulti DVD Burner with LightScribe technology enabling users to burn custom, silkscreen-quality text and images onto LightScribe-enabled CDs and DVDs.

“With this expansion of our PC portfolio, we are delivering products our Hispanic customers have told us matter most to them,” said Mark Sanchez, vice president and general manager, Consumer Computing - North America, HP in a press release.

He continued: “This community is the fastest growing segment in the United States, and HP is committed to providing them with ready access to technology to work, play and connect with others.”

The company refers to recent projections by HispanTelligence and Zyman Group, which reveal that the U.S. Hispanic population promises to be the ninth largest economy in the world in next three years as measured by gross domestic product, exceeding Canada and Mexico. Based on recent Forrester data, this Hispanic population shows a strong affinity toward technology and is now more comfortable using the Internet for connecting with family, sharing photos and educational purposes.

For these new offerings, documentation is available in both English and Spanish. Ready access to Spanish-speaking customer support representatives is available to HP customers.
