Sprint Unveils New Accessories Designed for Consumers Seeking Eco-Friendly Products

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Sprint has unveiled an expanded line of accessories that include chargers and device cases specially designed for consumers who demand eco-friendly products. These accessories can be obtained from the new ‘green’ sections opened at all company-owned retail locations and online at their site.

Sprint Nextel offers wireless and wireline communications services bringing the freedom of mobility to consumers, businesses and government users.

Sprint (News - Alert) is unveiling a new All-In-One vehicle and wall charger that meets Energy Star 2.0 guidelines and can charge two devices at once. It is stated to compliment the SOLIO solar powered charger already offered from Sprint. Sprint is also planning to release a new version of its SOLIO solar-powered phone charger in October.

Currently, Sprint offers the SOLIO Mono Hybrid Charger available for purchase via online only.

The SOLIO charger allows users to charge their mobile devices anywhere anytime using solar power or electrical socket.

Another addition to company’s green accessories are the new recyclable universal cases made from sustainable materials: cotton and linen. The cases are compatible with nearly all devices in the Sprint portfolio including the Samsung (News - Alert) Reclaim, the first phone in the U.S. constructed partly from corn-based bio-plastic.

In addition to the new eco-friendly products, Sprint had previously opened up a green themed website that depict the company’s green mobile applications and helps customers learn about Sprint’s sustainability initiatives including e-billing options, wireless recycling programs and ‘green’ tips such as utilizing mobile GPS to calculate the quickest route to save gas.

Sprint has stated that their customers will continue to see more eco-friendly options whether through their products and services or from their business partners. Their eco-friendly products will help consumers conserve natural resources and reduce their carbon footprint.

The company has also announced that for each purchase of the Samsung Reclaim device from Sprint, $2 of the proceeds will go to the Nature Conservancy’s Adopt an Acre program started to conserve land across U.S. and to protect some of the world’s beautiful and important natural habitats.

Sprint recently outsourced all network operations and is planning to release Android (News - Alert) phone in October with HTC.
