Geodesic Information Systems Inc., a provider of information, communication and entertainment (ICE) solutions for mobile phones and desktop computers, has entered a strategic partnership with BenQ Corp. under which it will distribute its Mundu suite of products on BenQ’s upcoming smartphones.
Mundu delivers services like instant messaging, mobile Voice-over-IP and Internet radio. Powered by Mundu, BenQ phones will allow users to chat through various IM networks, in various languages and on different platforms. Users will also gain access to numerous radio stations through their smartphones.
"For today's youth across the world, mobile phones are becoming a fashion statement. We are constantly looking for ways to bring the digital lifestyles of our customers, right to their mobile phones," said Dr. Irwin Chen, senior vice president and general manager, Mobile Communication Business Group (MCG) of BenQ, in a statement.
"We are extremely excited about our association with BenQ and we are hopeful that this will help both of us to combine our strengths and reach out to a wider audience,” said Kiran Kulkarni, managing director of Geodesic, in a statement. “BenQ's global reach in wireless handsets will help us expand the user base of Mundu, thus creating revenue opportunities for both companies.”
The bundled product will be jointly marketed by both companies.
