AVADirect Offers $2,500-Plus Core i7 Notebook

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

AVADirect has started offering Core i7 notebook for sale on its Web site, making it the first consumer and business retail outlet for the device. AVADirect, Inc., a custom computer manufacturing company, specializes in building custom computer systems like Windows or Linux manageable and highly-reliable servers, high-end workstations and gaming systems, business PCs and notebooks.

The company has started taking pre-orders and will be shipping out the notebooks to customers from the first week of July. The new Core i7 notebook utilizes a desktop processor and desktop components unlike the previous notebooks that utilized specialized notebook motherboards and components.

Even though power usage will be higher, AVADirect does not have to wait until a company designs and implements mobile offerings of current desktop hardware. Earlier, notebook hardware always used to be behind desktop hardware in terms of technology in power by six to 12 months since the hardware requirements had to be redesigned for notebook usage.

Since the notebook uses a desktop Core i7 processor, it enjoys the benefits offered by this hardware platform such as triple-channel memory. The memory in the notebook is high-speed DDR3 memory which runs as high as 1333 MHz. The Core i7 notebook has over four times the memory bandwidth available in older notebook technology since the on-board memory controller of the Core i7 notebook is found only in current Intel (News - Alert) Core i7 processors.

Re-introduction of Simultaneous Multi-Threading, also called HyperThreading is another benefit offered by the hardware platform. SMT enables a single processor core to work on two threads at the same time which doubles the core count that the operating witnesses. SMT virtualizes up to eight cores since the current Core i7 processors has four cores. This allows even the biggest applications to run faster.

The Clevo D900F Core i7 Gaming Notebook has been designed for maximum performance and for demanding users like CAD/CAM and 3D designers, engineers, animators and graphic professionals. Based on an older model called the D901C, the D900F has a 17” WSXGA+ ultra bright gloss TFT LCD display. The D900F consists of features like the ability to hold three hard drives, Bluetooth, wireless N, internal card reader, Blu-Ray reader and writer, webcam and a full size keyboard. The starting price of Clevo D900F Core i7 Gaming Notebook is $2,538.26.
