Zoran's APPROACH 5C Multimedia Processor Powers LG's Third Black Label Phone

By Shireen Dee, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Zoran Corporation has announced that the LG Secret handset from its Black Label Series will be powered by Zoran’s APPROACH 5C multimedia processor. LG’s Secret handset is the third and latest 5 megapixel camera phone from this series.

The APPROACH 5C multimedia processors support high class ISP (Image and Signal Processor (News - Alert)) image quality for DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) cameras. Apart from improving their video play and recording capabilities, it also supports multi-standard end-to-end Mobile Television (TV), integrated TV-out and High Speed USB (Universal Serial Bus) 2.0.
"LG's ultra thin Secret is the slimmest 5 megapixel camera phone on the market at 11.8 mm thick, making it easy for consumers to carry and capture memories from life's important events,” remarked Dr. Woo-Young Kwak, executive vice president mobile handset Research And Development Center, LG Electronics (News - Alert) Mobile Communications Company.
“Zoran technology enables the high quality still and video capture that consumers want when they only have a few seconds to take an important shot. Built-in photo and video editing features, including 'facial' editing, allow photographers to further improve their pictures. There are many other multimedia features delivered in the LG Secret such as internet access, gaming, music and an FM radio that are sure to please in this stylish compact design."
The LG Secret Phone will enable users to click shots and record video at up to 4X optical-zoom. Its VideoZoom technology aims to produce good quality still and video images. The device can deliver high ISO800 picture quality and 120 fps (Frames Per Second) video and has an inbuilt digital camera technology from Zoran, which can automatically adjust the camera lens  for better shots.
"We were pleased to deliver on the challenge of enabling an advanced camera experience in LG's ultra slim Secret camera phone," said Coby Sella, senior vice president, general manager, Zoran's Mobile Division.
"Building on our worldwide leadership in digital camera technology, we worked closely with LG to provide high quality still and video capture with the smallest commercial sensor pixel size. The APPROACH 5C processor provides Secret phone users a compelling multimedia experience. The video unit provides recording control for true zoom-in experience, high-speed time-lapse videos, and high-quality slow motion. We expect LG's ultra slim Secret mobile phone will be as popular with consumers as the successful Viewty camera phone, also powered by Zoran's APPROACH 5C processor."
