By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Best Buy has announced that Local Best Buy BlueShirt employees will be available for in-store, in-studio and phone interviews providing insight on how to prepare for hands-free driving in the state of California.

California will begin prohibiting the use of cell phones by drivers without a hands-free device on July 1, 2008. This decision has been made to reduce car accidents caused by distracted drivers. California currently logs more than 4,000 traffic deaths each year.

According to a new study released by the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC), this law is likely to save hundreds of lives a year especially when the weather is bad or roads are wet. The study indicates that California will experience 300 fewer traffic fatalities a year after the law takes effect on July 1st.
