Sprint (News - Alert), a provider of wide range of wireless and wireline communications services, announced the launch of a custom protection plan dubbed as “Advanced Protection Pack” to customers with netbooks, notebooks and tablets.

Assurant Advanced Protection Pack is a comprehensive is a bundled protection offering managed by Assurant Solutions

The Assurant Advanced Protection Pack provides repair or replacement in the event a device suffers mechanical or electrical breakdown or is accidentally damaged, lost or stolen, according to a press statement.

The innovative offer from Sprint will provide peace of mind to mobile device owners. As is the proliferation of mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, so are the risks associated with maintaining them. Sprint is leveraging on this opportunity.

By joining the Assurant Advanced Protection Pack, customers save valuable time with convenient, easy and ongoing tech support either online or on the phone. Customers also have control over and protection of their personal data if their device is lost or stolen.

Interested customers can join the plan by paying $13 per month. The service also includes a set of tools to locate a lost device, dedicated technical support with remote login, virus defense, data back-up of contacts, photos and media, and three months of credit monitoring if the device is lost or stolen.

Customers may enroll in the program when they activate a new device on a Sprint data plan, or within 30 days of the new activation or new equipment purchase, the company said.

Some of Sprint’s popular devices that are covered under the Advanced Protection Pack include HTC EVO View 4G, Samsung (News - Alert) Galaxy Tab, and Dell Inspiron 11Z.

In June, TMCnet reported that Lightyear Network Solutions (News - Alert) launched its Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) operations under a new five-year agreement with Sprint.

The contract allows Lightyear to partner directly with Sprint on new wireless products, and provide postpaid and prepaid mobile telephone products and service utilizing the Nationwide Sprint Network.
