By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributing Editor

D-Link (News - Alert) Systems, Inc., a networking solutions provider, will be introducing the D-Life website, an extension of the D-Link product offering, at CES 2008, currently underway in Las Vegas. This easy to use website would enhance the digital life style of consumers.

Steven Joe, president and CEO, D-Link Systems, Inc. said in the news release, “D-Life represents a shift from a hardware-centric focus to one that is based on consumer product usage and services. With D-Life-Enabled products and the D-Life website, everything just works. It’s true plug and play, making it easier to manage and support D-Link products. With this new user experience, even the most novice technical user can access, enjoy and define their digital lifestyle with ease.”

The D-Life website makes use of Web 2.0 connectivity and community which gives users the convenience of managing the D-Life world through an online customizable interface from where ever there is Internet access.

The website makes installation and management of devices easy by simple methods. Connection, to set up the product is done by adding the product to the user’s D-Life account. The user has to type in the 2 product ID numbers given on the device. Then the D-Life enabled device has to be connected to the home network.

Now all D-Life products and D-Life services can be organized from one navigable web site. Its flexibility allows addition of more D-Life products in the same account. Users can set their D-Life profile and also define settings for their D-Life enabled products clarified the company.

The website provides users with the ability to purchase services connected to their products, like minutes for phone usage and storage for video. They can communicate with other D-Life users through Internet phones, instant messaging and Internet mailbox.

D-Life members can share their products also such as viewing of security camera video. Besides these D-Life-Enabled products like networking, communication and security, their combination along with the D-Life website provide interaction between user and product and between D-Lifers.

The company said that further enhancements would include sharing news, viewing weather reports and videos on topics of interest besides posting content connected to their digital experience.

Joe further added, “D-Link has always strived to be a forward-looking, innovative company and offering our customers a superior Web 2.0 experience to make our products easier to access and enjoy is no exception.”

“Our D-Life initiative lets customers leverage D-Link products and services so they can get more from their digital life. We’re pleased to offer an exciting streamlined experience that allows our customers to communicate, share and learn,” he concluded.
