PC World’s editor-in-chief and VP, Harry McCracken said in a press release, “PC World’s 25 Most Innovative Product Awards honor the technology that has reshaped our expectations for the products we use to work, connect, and play with.

“Our team sorted through hundreds of products to find the 25 most impressive devices and services that stood out among the competition in terms of design, functionality, and originality. We’ve seen some major breakthroughs this year, from cutting edge Web apps that simplify daily tasks, to computers that provide fresh takes on what a PC can be,” McCracken said.

The product categories which were considered varied from a touch-screen laptop and power-saving hard drives to a money management web site.

The inclusion of a music group which innovated and offered a new way to purchase its albums online also finds mention in the list of ground breaking industry standards selected by PC World.
