Jawbone Bluetooth Headset Selected for 'Best Packaging& Graphics' by Popular Science

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributing Editor

The Jawbone Bluetooth headset from Aliph has been selected for its product design as a “Best of what’s New” award winner for 2007 by Popular Science.

Business Week magazine sponsors the International Design Excellence Competition which is organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America every year. Companies from the U.S and Asia and Europe enter their products in this contest. This is to appreciate the design excellence of their products.

The Jawbone Bluetooth headset has been awarded the “Best Packaging & Graphics” Gold Award for 2007. Popular Science selected Jawbone for taking a “significant step forward” in the mobile gadget category.

Apart from this, Jawbone was awarded the Business Week/IDSA International Design Excellence Award earlier this year, in addition to a Spark Award for best product design in another competition. It was also awarded Engadget’s “Most Wearable Device” for 2006. It is ranked among “Top 100 Products” in PC World for 2007 and is also CNET’S #1 Bluetooth headset.

The Jawbone headset was designed by Yves B har, principal of Fuseproject and Aliph’s vice president and creative director. He used the latest acoustics and audio processing techniques combined with most suitable product design, and as such the device gives users 100% voice clarity both ways. Aliph is a company which develops mobile audio products.

In a press release, Hosain Rehman, CEO, Aliph, expressed his happiness on the Jawbone being one of the recipients of Popular Science’s 2007 “Best of What’s New: awards:

“Our goal with Jawbone was to transform the mobile audio experience through exceptional design and unparalleled technology to create a truly unique consumer product,” he said. “Yves's clean, ergonomic design melds instinctively with Noise Shield technology to enhance the customer experience in every way, from the packaging to the functional simplicity and ease of use.”

Popular Science’s editors evaluate several products to select the best every year. These awards are the highest honors given by Popular Science, said Editor-in-Chief Mark Jannot.

“For 20 years, Popular Science's ‘Best of what’s New’ awards honor the innovations that can make a positive impact on life today and change our views of the future,” Jannot said.
