LIN TV Corp., one of the largest television station groups in the United States, has launched dedicated LIN TV “Channels” on YouTube (News - Alert) reflecting LIN TV’s commitment to further expand its local news brands and YouTube’s commitment to work with content owners to make compelling video accessible online.

LIN TV Corp., along with its subsidiaries, creates and delivers superior local news and community stories, along with top-rated entertainment programming to nine percent of U.S. television homes, reaching an average of 11.5 million households per week.

LIN TV has and continues to identify and implement innovative business strategies, including being an early adopter of digital television and new interactive platforms, in order to expand their trusted local news brands.

TV stations like WISH-TV in Indianapolis, WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, WTNH-TV in New Haven, and WPRI-TV in Providence would be the first LIN TV stations to feature their news, sports and entertainment clips on the YouTube Web sites.

The viewers will be able to subscribe to receive videos, share videos and post comments and the YouTube channels will also have local news, weather, and entertainment videos as well as with original, local television programming and user-generated content.

“The partnership creates a major opportunity to engage viewers with LIN TV’s award-winning local video content and with new user-generated content on a robust interactive platform,” said Vincent L. Sadusky, president and chief executive officer of LIN TV in a press release.

“It is an important development in our strategic plan to distribute our industry-leading content across new media platforms and offer local news, sports and entertainment programming to significant new audiences.”

“YouTube’s innovative collaboration with LIN TV is another great example of how we’re working with local affiliates to bring the YouTube community the most relevant content out there,” said Jordan Hoffner, Head of Premium Content Partnerships for YouTube.

“This agreement will ultimately deliver LIN’s award-winning, local programming to an even broader audience looking specifically for local content.”
