Broadcom to Showcase Digital Wireless and Mobile Comm Devices at International CES 2011

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Broadcom Corporation, a dealer in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, asserted that it will be demonstrating its newest digital, wireless and mobile communication devices at the International CES (News - Alert) 2011.

The company claimed that the demonstration is part of its 20th year anniversary celebrations and the products that are to be showcased are designed to enhance the means in which customers use their electronic devices.

Officials with the company claimed that most of the popular consumer electronic devices today ranging from tablets, smartphones to Internet connected HDTVs are powered by Broadcom (News - Alert) technology, which touches millions of consumers everyday and is enabling many of the most popular consumer electronics products available to connect to the Internet and with each other.

Customers are now demanding ubiquitous connectivity. The products that are on display at the CES 2011 showcase the latest advances and innovative features in a wide array of consumer electronics products.

Some of the products and technologies that will be demonstrated at CES 2011 are:

- Home connectivity: Broadcom claimed that its connected home platforms feature high performance processing, full resolution 3DTV support and whole-home connectivity. Their connected devices are compatible with the most popular industry specifications including Bluetooth, Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA), Ethernet, Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA), powerline networking, RVU Remote User Interface (RUI) technology, and Wi-Fi, on multiple devices including set-top boxes (STBs), HDTVs, tablets, Blu-ray Disc players and routers.

- Wireless convergence: Another innovative solution that will be demonstrated includes the Broadcom's dual-band 802.11n WiFi (News - Alert) SoC solution which combines Broadcom's Bluetooth 3.0 and dual-band 802.11n SoCs onto a Half MiniCard, bringing best-in-class wireless features to increasingly smaller notebook PCs and Netbooks.  The company claimed that its unique algorithms intelligently manage Bluetooth and Wi-Fi traffic to maximize performance, despite very little radio isolation - even when both radios are used at the same time.

- Tablets: Tablets that are powered by the Broadcom's Persona IP Communication family will also be showcased. Designed to meet the needs of large enterprise markets, the Persona IP Communication processors enable high-performance, next-generation multimedia-capable Gigabit Ethernet IP phones via a high level of integration, feature-rich applications, an enhanced audio experience, robust Ethernet switching, enhanced security, and advanced peripheral support.

Recently, Broadcom Corporation (News - Alert) announced the industry's first 10 Gigabit (10G) Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) optical network unit (ONU) system-on-a-chip (SoC).
