Plantronics ( News - Alert) announced Tuesday that the new SupraPlus Wideband USB professional headset is optimized for Microsoft Office Communicator 2007. The headset provides Office Communicator 2007 users with enhanced wideband audio, reliability and hands-free communications the whole day.
Utilizing more than twice the audio bandwidth of conventional telephony, Wideband greatly enhances intelligibility. Thanks to SupraPlus Wideband USB, professionals using PC-based unified communications (UC) applications for voice over IP get the feeling of true “face-to-face” conversations. This results in improved business communication and collaboration during audio and video conference calls, and person-to-person calls when initiated through Office Communicator 2007.
Jeffrey Siegel, vice president of Business Development at Plantronics said that Plantronics is furthering its strategic relationship with Microsoft ( News - Alert) to develop unified communications solutions that make enterprise communications integrated, life-like and immediate.
Plantronics’ new wideband solutions are developed specifically to optimize the performance of unified communications environments, helping companies improve collaboration through 'in-person' quality voice fidelity independent of the worker’s location.
Moz Hussain, director, product management, Unified Communications ( News - Alert) Group, at Microsoft Corp said in a statement that combining Microsoft's unified communications software with Plantronics’ SupraPlus Wideband USB offers customers an optimal voice communications experience.
Hussain added that Microsoft’s relationship with Plantronics provides the enterprise with new levels of business value, helping to create the highest-quality communication and collaboration experiences.
Plantronics SupraPlus Wideband USB boasts features integration with Office Communicator 2007’s call control features. Calls can be managed through the headset without having to engage users’ PC softphone. Leveraging the hands-free flexibility provided by the headset, professionals can accomplish simultaneous tasks such as typing an instant message (IM) or e-mail, or researching on the Internet, while on a call.
Additionally, the headset provides privacy to business users when listening to unified messaging voice mails via e-mail.
Plantronics will make available the SupraPlus Wideband USB worldwide this winter with a manufacturer's suggested price of $169 and 189 euros.
