Microsoft's Value Excellence Award Goes to Flextronics

By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributor

Singapore-based Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider, Flextronics, was awarded the Microsoft (News - Alert) Value Excellence Award in appreciation of its partnership support to Microsoft for the launch and mass production of Microsoft's Kinect. The announcement was made at the Microsoft’s ninth Microsoft Vendor Program (MSVP) Annual Vendor Summit held last week in Redmond, Washington. Microsoft's Kinect is a hands-free controller for the Xbox 360 gaming system.

The Microsoft Vendor Program (MSVP) recognizes vendors for their outstanding performance and innovation in service.

"We are extremely honored to have received this recognition from Microsoft, a valued customer that we have served and supported for many years," said Francois Barbier, president of Flextronics (News - Alert) Mobile and Consumer, in a statement. "The Xbox and Kinect products have given us an opportunity to work with the most talented and collaborative teams in the industry, and we are proud to support production demands of the popular Kinect. On behalf of Flextronics, I would like to thank Microsoft for the award and for recognizing the successes of our partnership."

Flextronics is a leading Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider which delivers end to end design, engineering and manufacturing services to computing, automotive, consumer, infrastructure, industrial, medical and mobile OEMs.

Flextronics has a network of facilities in 30 countries spanning four continents through which it assists customers to design, build, ship and service electronics products. This large global footprint of Flextronics ensures lower costs and reduced time to market through vertical integration of component technologies and combined design and engineering solutions with core electronics manufacturing and logistics services.

Earlier this year, TMCnet reported that Flextronics is going to build Petra Solar' SunWave smart energy modules that will be deployed around the globe.
