By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Dell announced its new XPS laptops, which deliver improved sound, HD video experience and Skype (News - Alert) certifications, along with various other features.

Allowing users to connect their Dell XPS notebooks to new 3D HDTVs and play hundreds of popular PC games in 3D, all laptops are 3D TV ready and include NVIDIA's (News - Alert) 3DTV Play software. The new family of laptops, which come in 14-, 15- and 17-inch screen sizes, allow users to watch Blu-ray 3D movies, and browse 3D photos and videos in immersive, stereoscopic 3D.

The new Dell (News - Alert) XPS laptops can be purchased directly from Dell and the prices are $899 for the XPS 14; $849 for the XPS 15; and $949 for the XPS 17.

“We're pushing the limits once again, this time with our new line of XPS laptops, which offer pulsing audio from JBL and Waves, new high-definition screens driven by NVIDIA technology and the industry's first Skype-certified laptops with the first webcam allowing HD video streaming," said Sam Burd, vice president of the Dell Consumer, Small and Medium Business Product Group, in a press release. "The XPS brand has always been the standard-bearer for outstanding performance.”

The new premium systems mark the return of the highly regarded XPS brand as it features exceptional sound, video and now 3D-capabilities, Dell stated. These laptops come standard with silver anodized aluminum display back and palmrest, or can be personalized with one of more than 200 original designs from Dell Design Studio. Other features include built-in JBL designed and certified speakers, high-performance 1GB to 3GB NVIDIA graphics, etc.

Recently, the company announced its entry into the smartphone market, the Dell Venue Pro. Powered with Microsoft’s (News - Alert) Windows Phone 7 operating system, Venue Pro will be available in the United States this holiday season with T-Mobile services. According to a Direct2Dell blog post on the same day, the Venue Pro is designed to be a multi-purpose always-connected device to help people be more efficient, always connected and entertained.
