The Mtn. Mountain West Sports Network Teams with Baja Broadband

The Mtn. Mountain West Sports Network and Baja Broadband announced Thursday that The Mtn. is being added to Baja systems in Utah, Nevada and Colorado.

Baja carriage in Southern Utah (St. George metropolitan area) and the Virgin Valley of Nevada (Mesquite) begins tomorrow. September 1 is the first day of the 2007 Mountain West Conference football season.

The companies inform that customers in these areas can call 435.628.3621 to sign up for Baja service to see The Mtn, which can be seen on channel 97 until September 20, when it moves to channel 31. Both channels are reportedly included in Baja's Expanded Basic tier.




In coming weeks and months, the network will be rolled out to customers in other Baja markets. The details of channel locations and dates will be announced later by the company.

“With the addition of Baja Broadband, we now have 18 separate providers carrying The Mtn., including 10 in Utah, reflecting the strong demand for The Mtn. and the value of our content,” said Kim Carver, vice president and general manager of the Mtn in a statement.

“The Mtn. is growing because of the passion of MWC fans, and on behalf of The Mtn., I would like to thank fans for their continued support,” added Carver.

Rob Calgi, Baja vice-president marketing expressed his delighted to be able to provide their customers with the content they want.  Calgi said that they are proud to be among the first to carry The Mtn. and give their viewers more Mountain West action, from the very beginning of the new sports season.

Tom Holmoe, BYU athletic director, and Chris Hill, University of Utah athletic director said that alumni, fans and supporters who live in these markets are thrilled to see BYU athletics, Utah athletics and The Mtn. on Baja in time for football season.

“The Mtn. has provided us with more television coverage, and we are excited that our audience continues to grow in significant markets at the start of a new school year,” said Commissioner Craig Thompson.
