White Rock Networks’ VLX300/400 service edge concentrators provide cost-effective aggregation of T1- based IP services near the network’s edge. The solutions terminate traditional T1-based IP business services that utilize PPP, MLPPP, HDLC, and Frame Relay protocols, and aggregate the IP traffic over GbE with VLAN or Clear Channel DS3 with Frame Relay DLCI. By aggregating IP traffic in front of the router, channelized DS3 ports are eliminated on the edge router and provide savings in direct port costs and a much higher utilization of router resources through higher-density/higher-capacity GbE interfaces.
The VLX300 replaces larger routers to deliver cost-effective T1-based IP services to retail and wholesale customers, while the VLX400 has DS0 grooming capabilities that allow carriers to separate TDM voice and data circuits and consolidate like traffic onto separate uplinks - reducing the number of DS3s that require groom and fill at the DCS by taking the data directly to the router, and only sending TDM traffic to the DCS.
