Cisco unveiled the Cisco Unified Communications Management Suite, part of the Cisco Unified Communications Solution, on March 6, 2006. The solution is designed to help businesses communicate more effectively.
Cisco Unified Operations Manager and Cisco Unified Service Monitor, the two primary components of the Cisco Unified Communications Management Suite, work together to provide IT staffs complete manageability over the entire Cisco Unified Communication Solution. This function provides a unique approach opposed to other voice network management products that focus strictly on phones and call control.
Once installed, the Cisco Unified Operations Manager automatically identifies all components of the unified communications systems; elements such as routers, switches, gateways, Unified CallManagers, Cluster Configurations, phones and applications. Alerts and alarms are then gathered, and predefined thresholds checked. A complete view of the entire communication solution is displayed to IT staffs through one dashboard for easy to use troubleshooting and diagnostics.
With this holistic view provided by the Cisco Unified Communications Suite IT staffs can now quickly and efficiently troubleshoot any arising issues and fix them before they are seen by the end user. The result? An increase in productivity for the IT staff and a higher level of service for their users.
