The Telcordia VoIP Routing Registry enables end-to-end IP interconnection by serving as a hub for routing information for VoIP and IMS-enabled multi-media services (video, SMS/MMS, push-to-talk). With this solution, service providers can minimize the cost and inefficiency of PSTN interconnection while offering value-added IP-enabled features to generate revenue and enhance customer experience.
The TelcordiaVoIP Routing Registry identifies the IP ingress point, based on the called telephone number, to deliver a call. It extends beyond carrier/infrastructure ENUM to support scalable and secure Tier 1 operations, with features such as customized routing based on the interconnecting providers and the service characteristics. Both Domain Name System (DNS) ENUM and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) are supported to allow for interoperability with a service provider’s existing equipment.
The Telcordia VoIP Routing Registry leverages the Telcordia LERG Routing Guide, used by North American service providers to route PSTN traffic for over 25 years.
