Compaq Advances CTI Strategy With AltiGen Partnership
Compaq has teamed with AltiGen Communications to announce a powerful
server-based PBX and voice over IP (VoIP) solution, featuring AltiGen's AltiServe
all-in-one PBX system running on Compaq's Windows NT Server-based systems, such as Compaq
ProLiant and Compaq ProSignia. Targeted at small to medium sized businesses and enterprise
branches, the AltiServe solution includes basic features such as voice mail, auto
attendant, and ACD, as well as advanced functionality such as VoIP gateway,

8x8, Inc., announced its IntraSwitch CTI Software Developers Kit (SDK), which
enables developers to prototype and test CTI applications without requiring access to a
traditional PBX. The SDK consists of a developers' version of 8x8's IntraSwitch IP-PBX
Server software and a four-line Symphony VoIP Gateway. The IntraSwitch Server supports
Sun's Java telephony API, version 1.3. The IntraSwitch IP-PBX runs in the Solaris, Linux,

Certification
Accelerated Networks' voice and data over DSL solution has successfully
completed Lucent's test suite confirming interoperability with Lucent's 5ESS AnyMedia

Ariel Provides High-Density CompactPCI Remote Access For Linux
Ariel Corporation has announced support for Red Hat Linux 6.0 on its
CompactPCI-based RS2000C remote access card. The RS2000C gives Linux servers the physical

integrated circuit. Broadcom's StrataSwitch BCM5600 enables systems vendors to

Casio Unveils SI-460 System Telephone

CAC Unveils New VMEbus Telephony Board
Communication Automation & Control has announced QuicKit/T1, a new VMEbus
telephony board that combines 4 T1/E1 interfaces with up to 4800 MIPS of digital signaling
processing power. QuicKit features 48 100-MIPS TMS320VC549 DSPs, which enable the board to
provide up to 50 MMACS (million multiply-accumulates per second) of processing power per

Dialogic Introduces CT Connect Call Routing Manager
Dialogic introduced its Call Routing Manager software component that works
with Dialogic's CT Connect call control server to monitor multiple route points and route
calls to specified destinations. The CT Connect Call Routing Manager comes with a sample
database-driven routing module that routes calls by matching DNIS, ANI, or other call
information against a customer-supplied database of routing destinations. The sample
module can be replaced by a Windows DLL if more sophisticated call routing logic is
required. The Call Routing Manager supports multiple CT Connect links and Computer
Supported Telephony Application (CSTA) compliant telephone systems with standard CSTA call
routing feature. The Call Routing Manager uses any database that offers a Microsoft ODBC

Dialogic And Compaq Team To Offer CT Media SDK

telephony servers. With the CT Media telephony server software Starter Kit from Dialogic

DPD Announces Gold-Fax 5.1
DPD has announced Gold-Fax 5.1, an enterprise fax server solution available
for Windows NT or Microsoft Exchange. The software features a new Web browser interface
that allows users to send faxes from any networked desktop without needing to load special
client software. Gold-Fax 5.1 has been enhanced with a graphical reporting and analysis

DTI Rolls Out New Celeron SBC
DTI introduced the LBC8541, a Celeron single board computer, which is offered
in a three-quarter /AT PCI PICMG card form factor and based on Intel's 66MHz front side
bus Celeron processor with the 440BX chipset. Two standard 168-pin DIMM sockets are
provided for support of up to 512MB of memory. In addition to the 16KB primary cache, a
128KB secondary (L2) cache device is integrated in the Celeron processor module. Standard
ISA bus peripherals like PS/2 keyboard/mouse controller, real-time clock, floppy

e-Net Extends Free Internet Telephony To Businesses
e-Net announced that ZeroPlus.com, its wholly owned subsidiary, has released
a new version of its software designed for Windows NT users. The free service opens up
free PC-to-PC voice service to users of the Windows NT operating system. To use the

ECTF Announces S.410 Java Implementation
The Enterprise Computer Telephony Forum (ECTF) announced the release of
S.410, a Java implementation of the ECTF media services API and architecture. S.410, a
cooperative effort of ECTF and Sun's Java organizations, is being released as the media
package for the Java telephony API (JTAPI) 1.3, replacing the media package defined in
JTAPI 1.2. Because S.410 is being incorporated into JTAPI, application developers can use
the ECTF media services and also access the full range of JTAPI core and extension API
packages, enabling the development of powerful applications that integrate call control

ICQ and Net2Phone have entered into a four-year agreement under which
Net2Phone's Internet telephony services will be provided through ICQ to anyone with an ICQ
membership, giving users the ability to place and receive phone calls over the Internet.
The services will carry the ICQ brand and be powered by Net2Phone, providing ICQ's more
than 38 million registrants with low-cost international and domestic telephone calling

Lucent Introduces Wideband Speech Coder
Lucent Technologies announced the ClearPresence Audio Coder, a family of
wideband speech coders that offer high sound quality at transmission rates three times
lower than the current industry standard. The coders are designed to enhance sound quality
over the Internet, voice, video, and wireless networks. Developed by Bell Labs,
ClearPresence delivers fuller sound at lower bit rates, putting the capabilities of
wideband (7 KHz) speech quality into technologies and applications that were originally
limited to using only simple narrowband (3.7 KHz) frequencies. The coders are available
for licensing from Lucent.

Lucent Announces PathStar Voice Over DSL Server
Lucent has announced that it will extend its PathStar family to enable
service providers to offer cost-effective integrated voice, data, and high-speed Internet
access over DSL to small and medium-sized businesses and to residential customers. The
PathStar solution, available in the fourth quarter of 1999, will enable service providers
to deliver eight or more telephony subscriber lines and high-speed data over a single
unbundled local loop. The PathStar solution, which includes the PathStar Access Server and

Lynk Launches Telephony Over IP Gateway
Lynk announced the TeleLynk Gateway package, a business-class telephony over
