Nortel Provides Integrated Voice/Data Via IP
Nortel Networks has announced a cost-effective way to bring the full range of data and
real-time voice services to remote users, allowing a multimedia PC to provide a complete
remote office solution using a single analog line. Meridian IP Telecommuter will deliver
integrated voice and data communication via IP. It is a Windows 95/98-based software
package loaded onto a multimedia PC or laptop. Users can call via a Universal Serial Bus

Texas Micro Releases Single Board Computer Solution

Motorola Offers New T1/EI Communications Adapter
Motorola Computer Group announced the MPMC860 series of communication adapters in PCI
Mezzanine Card format. These building blocks offer high-performance T1/E1 connectivity to

Copia Offers ThruFax IntelliRoute As Inbound Routing System
Copia has expanded its electronic inbound fax routing options to include Onset
Technology's ThruFax product. ThruFax analyzes incoming faxes and automatically routes
them to their intended recipients. It uses IntelliRoute technology to scan addressing
lines and determine where they go. It then generates an e-mail confirmation message to the

Diversified Technology Introduces Fully Integrated Celeron SBC
Diversified Technology has announced the release of the new LBC8540 single board computer.
It is a PICMG compatible board based on Intel's Celeron processor and 440BX chipset

Digisoft Y2K Compliant Open Design Scripting

Nortel Releases Integrated IP Gateway For Meridian 1 System

VocalTec Introduces Internet Call Waiting
VocalTec Communications, Ltd. announced its Internet Phone Call Waiting, the latest
product in its end-to-end IP telephony solutions based on its Ensemble Architecture. It is
enabled through VocalTec Internet Phone Lite end user software. It allows all classes of
service providers (ISPs, CLECs, telcos and new carriers) to offer a virtual second line to

Nortel Introduces VoIP Capabilities On Internet Call Waiting
Service
Nortel Networks announced Internet Call Waiting (ICW) Release 2, featuring advanced VoIP
functionality, centralized management systems, an enhanced user interface and improved
platform monitoring capabilities. The Internet Call Waiting server and accompanying client
software allow service providers to offer subscribers a range of expanded services
including the ability to accept incoming calls while online via either PSTN or IP.
Nortel's ICW uses a screen pop to notify a user of the incoming call.

NBX Releases LAN-Based, H.323 Telephony System
NBX Corp. has enhanced its NBX-100, a LAN-based telephony system, including worktop and
messaging improvements, and administrative software for simplified management, both
offered free of charge. It includes NBX ConneXtions, an H.323 software-only gateway
running on Windows NT, which requires no special cards to connect to a phone system.
Instead, the LAN transmits all voice communication directly from phones to gateway. Also,
the IPServe provides address allocation to telephone endpoints of a network. It allows any
NBX 100 phone to alternate dynamically between Layer 2 and Layer 3.

VTG Releases VoiceBridge 2000 Version 2.0
Voice Technologies Group announced the availability of VoiceBridge 2000 v 2.0, its latest
revision to facilitate the development of leading-edge computer-telephony integration
solutions. Enhancements include complete TAPI 2.1 compatibility, enhanced MVIP support,
Lucent two-wire (8400 series) support, and the addition of the VoiceBridge monitoring

Industrial Computer Source's Next-Gen Industrial Solution
Industrial Computer Source has come out with a new solution for industrial
applications and Pentium II "slot 1" processors. The P2BX series of CPU sets and
backplanes is based on Intel's 440BX AGP chipset, and is available in a variety of models
with processor speeds from 350 MHz to 450 MHz. Additional enhancements include two USB
ports, a programmable watchdog timer, improved voltage, fan fail monitoring, and the
ability to interface to a single or dual P2 backplane with a 100 MHz Front-Side Bus.

Teknor Releases Small Industrial Passive Backplane
Teknor Industrial Computers, Inc., has released the VIPci 960, a half-size PCI/ISA passive
backplane system. Used with the T076 PC/104-Plus adapter, Teknor's half-size ISA VIPer
series boards with a PC/104-Plus expansion connector can drive both ISA and PCI adapters
on a small form passive backplane. With one dedicated VIPci Technology connector pair (SBC
+ T076-Plus adapter), three 32-bit/5V DC PCI edge connectors, and four 16-bit ISA edge
connectors, a PCI/ISA system can be created in a small form factor, all in a controlled
EMI design. It increases the ISA SBC from a theoretical throughput of 16 MB/s to an

Brooktrout CompactPCI WAN Access Products Enhancements
Brooktrout Technology announced a DSP mezzanine option for its Compact PCI WAN access
products, including a developer's tool kit allowing OEM developers to write or purchase
DSP code based on the TI C54X family. Using the new DSP mezzanine card and Brooktrout's
Instant ISDN software stack, programmers can integrate and run third-party DSP code.
Brooktrout also announced it plans to deliver cPCI versions of its TR1000a voice and fax
messaging platform, and its TR 2001a IP telephony platform. This will enable OEM product
developers and service providers to build powerful IP telephony and messaging applications

Calista Announces VoIP Developer's Tool Kit For IP-PBX

Calista, a provider of gateways that link digital PBXs to an IP network, is publishing its
VoIP protocol for connecting digital PBX phones to an Ethernet IP network. Digital Phone
Control Protocol (DPCP) will allow third-party developers to build their own IP-based PBXs
that can control proprietary digital phones using a standard protocol. The DPCP protocol
can control a wide variety of digital phones, while also interoperating with the
standards-based ethernet H.323 protocol. DPCP sits on TCP/IP, providing continuous call
control to digital phones via Calista's PBX-over-IP products. It currently supports
digital phones from Lucent, Nortel, Mitel, Siemens, Ericsson, NEC and Iwatsu.

CMG Announces Short Message Service Center For CDMA, TDMA
CMG, a supplier of digital mobile telephony solutions, has announced the availability of
its Short Message Service Center (SMSC) for CDMA and TDMA networks. SMS in mobile networks
transmit limited text or data from network to mobile phone and vice versa. Using Compaq's
new IS-41 product on top of the existing DEC SS7 protocol stack, CMG's SMSC offers high
performance and scalability. "As SMS integrates with CDMA and TDMA, our products will
already support it," said Dick Blom, president of CMG Telecommunications Inc.
"Given widespread buildouts, this is an excellent opportunity for CDMA and TDMA
operators to begin integrating SMS." Available now, CMG's SMSC supports all three

distribution agreement under which Net2Phone's PC-to-phone service will be exclusively
bundled with Netscape's Communicator browser as a toolbar icon. Also, Net2Phone will be
