Ameritec’s AM2 Squirt family of bulk call generators is designed to meet the testing demands of telephony application developers. Each different Squirt unit allows for interfacing to different line types — one model works on analog POTS lines, another on T1 spans, and others work on E1, ISDN PRI, ISDN BRI, and SS7. The AM2 Squirt allows users to develop a test environment with low or high line counts, incremental growth, multiple interfaces, and the ability to test highly complex call scenarios under the control of FeatureCall, Ameritec’s Windows-based graphical user interface.

Test configurations can be developed by chaining up to fifteen units together and controlling them via a single RS232 port, or multiple units can be controlled through an Ethernet LAN. User-defined scripts and line protocols mean users can tailor test scenarios to meet a broad range of testing requirements. To maintain the maximum level of performance, functionality, and flexibility, the AM2 Squirt is powered by a 32-bit RISC processor. Every line of channel is served by local DSPs to identify call progress tones, detect digits, and to verify the voice path after a connection is established. The Squirt line features a multiprocessor architecture, which means call volume is not affected by the number of operating channels or the nature of tests the user performs.

CCPRO (Call Center Professional) is a product suite that includes a standardsbased client/server telephony platform with predictive dialing, inbound automatic call distribution with integrated recorded announcements, blending, interactive voice response, monitoring/ recording services, fax services, and integrated reporting. CellIT’s Narrowband CCPRO (NCCPRO) reduces the technology capital and operating costs of a typical call center and eliminates all peripheral components such as fax servers. The Broadband CCPRO (BCCPRO) reduces costs even further by eliminating the PBX, telephones, and associated wiring infrastructure. It also implements a universal interface supporting voice, video, and data at the agents’ stations. The product suites contain six modules: NTSwitch (a multimedia communications server); CenterCord (an object oriented system coordinator and database engine); CenterDirector (a system management station for system operation, administration, and maintenance); Televisor (a visual object oriented IVR application generator); Voltage (a branched logic agent scripting module with order entry, fulfillment, and business application interfaces); and AMP (a Java-based agent application which provides screen-based telephony functions and screen pops). Both N-CCPRO and BCCPRO have the following features:
  • 3-tier client/server model.
  • inear growth supporting from 16 to n x 150 agents.
  • Bulletproof “Do not call” exception handling
  • Real-time dynamic dialing
  • Skill-based call routing.
  • Rules-based blended call queue prioritizing.

Panafax UF-770i

Panasonic Office Products Co.
2 Panasonic Way
Secaucus, NJ 07094
Ph: 201-348-7000
Web site: www.panasonic.com/internetfax

Panasonic’s Internet fax machine is designed to reduce phone charges for organizations that send frequent global or long-distance faxes. The Panafax UF-770i is a hardware solution that sends and receives documents, pictures, photos, handwritten messages, and e-mail over the Internet. Instead of entering a telephone number, the user enters an e-mail address into the fax machine keypad. Panasonic’s Internet fax works by first scanning a document and compressing the binary image. It wraps the compressed image data with TIFF (tagged image file format) headers and tags and then encodes the headers in base64. The data is then attached to a MIME (multipurpose Internet mail extension) file and passed through a predetermined mail server with SMTP. If another Internet fax is the receiving device, the original message will be printed automatically. The UF-770I is a standard G3compatible fax device with Full Dual Access operation and a fast three second Quick Scan feature designed to eliminate long waits. To ensure the fax works seamlessly with PCs both on and off the network, Panasonic offers free software utilities to send and receive Internet faxes that can be downloaded from their Web site. The TIFF viewer allows quick and easy viewing of Internet faxes received in a desktop PC’s e-mail inbox, and the TIFF converter lets the user create Internet fax files by selecting a printer driver command and saving the file.
Net2Phone Direct

IDT Corp. routes and resells international long-distance services to businesses in 131 countries and directly to telecommunications companies at the carrier level worldwide. Their Net2Phone technology enables users to place calls via the Internet using traditional telephones while keeping high sound quality. The service, Net2Phone Direct, can reduce the cost of international calls by up to 95 percent. Net2Phone Direct’s network switching infrastructure is based on IDT’s proprietary Net2Phone model, which has already enabled users to place calls from their PCs to any telephone in the world for over a year. Net2Phone Direct users call a local or toll-free number, which connects the call to an outbound switch server. This server converts the call from the telephone’s circuit switched network to the Internet’s packet switched network. The system then prompts the user to enter their account number and the telephone number they wish to reach. The call is carried over the Internet to an inbound switch server located in Hackensack, NJ. That server, in turn, switches the call onto the local telephone network, and completes the call — all within fractions of a second. Because the call only travels a short distance on the circuit switch network, the total cost of the call is minimal.

Ericsson’s Phone Doubler allows network operators and service providers to give subscribers simultaneous Internet and telephone access over the same analog telephone line. The Phone Doubler establishes a voice gateway that allows voice calls to be sent over Internet protocol (IP) networks. When an Internet subscriber goes online, an IP address is logged into the server. Phone calls to the subscriber are forwarded to the voice gateway, where the Phone Doubler maps them to the previously created IP address and routes them to the subscriber. The subscriber is alerted to the incoming call with an icon on the computer screen, and can take the call using the computer’s microphone and speaker while continuing the Internet session. The subscriber also can place a phone call while still online. Voice technology originally developed by Ericsson for digital wireless communications makes the sound quality of Phone Doubler calls as clear as ordinary calls. The product can help businesses cut the cost of telecommuting by eliminating the need for additional phone lines to be installed in employees’ homes. Phone Doubler is already being offered by iGlobal, a Dallas Internet service provider.
