AccessLan Unveils Blueprint For Next-Gen DSLAMs
AccessLan Communications has made two announcements regarding the future of DSLAMs and broadband access. First, it has announced the release of the i-SLAM, a new class of IP-smart intelligent DSLAM, which forms the foundation for delivery of Internet-based services, such as e-commerce, Web hosting, application hosting, streaming audio and video, and so on. The i-SLAM provides IP QoS and IP handling capabilities to deliver carrier-scale IP/Internet service. Additionally, AccessLan has unveiled its Internet Scaling Architecture (ISA) to deliver end-to-end IP QoS and to build scalable DSL networks. ISA enables new value-added services such as application hosting and streaming content. A standards-based architecture, the ISA melds IETF's MPLS standard with IP QoS standards and addresses all the elements of IP service delivery from the subscriber interface to the handling of the traffic streams within the i-SLAMs to the handoff to a backbone network.
