GoDigital Adds Extended Range Remote Terminal To GDSL
Family
GoDigital Networks has announced the GDSL RTU8E extended range
remote terminal unit to allow network access providers to extend
high-quality POTS, high-speed modem access, and value-added services to
hard-to-reach customers. By increasing the resistance from 130 ohms to 770
ohms on each drop off the RTU8E, the reach of each drop increases from
2,000 feet to 12,000 feet, while GoDigitals Configur8r Design Software
leverages these capabilities to allow designation of short or long drops
to maximize system reach and increase deployment flexibility. The RTU8E
can be used for cross-box distribution point reinforcement, and is
available in a compact, hardened cabinet that holds three RTU8Es and a
choice of cross-connect configurations. Finally, the RTU8E can be equipped
with a full TR-909 subscriber drop test system to allow for remote
maintenance testing.

Lucent Unveils ATM Uplink Modules For Cajun P550, P880
Lucent Technologies has unveiled two ATM uplink modules that can
be used in both the Cajun P550 gigabit switch and the new Cajun P880
routing switch. These new two-port, OC-12 Cajun ATM uplinks provide LAN
connectivity of 622 Mbps over each port across an ATM network, for a total
aggregate bandwidth of 1.2 Gbps. The uplink modules are hot-swappable, and
they also support fault tolerance and fail-over mode. By mapping the
Ethernet priority to ATM service categories, the uplinks maintain
end-to-end QoS in a multiservice network handling data, voice, and video.
They also allow for easy management, supporting Web-based management on
the switch and using SNMP through Lucents CajunView Suite.

DTI Networks Intros Next-Gen Office Solution
DTI Networks has announced the first set of products based on its feature
creation architecture platform, using Web technology to allow carriers to
offer real-time voice services over current and next-gen networks.
Together, DTIs Telecommunications Services Portal (TSP) and CSX 2100
allow service providers to create new services as easily as creating a Web
page. Service creation time is reduced to hours, and subscribers can
customize their services through a standard Web browser interface. The TSP
is a call control server for circuit-switched and packet-based networks
that breaks the service providers dependence on switch vendors by
decoupling call processing from switching. The TSP uses Call Policy Markup
Language (CPML), an extension language of standard XML created by DTI to
open the telecom network to Internet-based tools. The CSX 2100 is a
switching platform designed specifically for the CLEC market that supports
both Class 4 and 5 applications and as many as 40,000 subscribers in a
single rack. Both products will be in beta testing in Q1 2000, with
general availability in Q2 2000.
