Edgewater Wireless Joins Arm Program to Revolutionize Wi-Fi Connectivity

By Stefania Viscusi November 26, 2024

Edgewater Wireless, a provider of Wi-Fi Spectrum (News - Alert) Slicing technology, joined the Arm Flexible Access program. Per the partnership, Edgewater will leverage Arm’s high-performance, energy-efficient computing platform to redefine connectivity for residential, enterprise, and service provider markets.

The Arm Flexible Access program provides Edgewater with extensive access to Arm’s technology portfolio, including proven IP blocks and advanced AI modules. This eliminates traditional up-front licensing fees, offering Edgewater the flexibility to experiment with various IP configurations. The result is faster development cycles, reduced risk, and optimized solutions that deliver unmatched performance and energy efficiency.

Edgewater’s Wi-Fi Spectrum Slicing enables multiple in-band, concurrent channels within a single coverage area using standards-compliant Wi-Fi. By applying sophisticated signal processing techniques, this significantly reduces latency — by 50% or more — and delivers 7x to 18x performance gains over conventional single-channel Wi-Fi architectures.

“Now more than ever, startups and early-stage semiconductor companies are under increasing pressure to innovate faster and accelerate time to market,” said Neil Parris, Director of Partner Success and Business Models at Arm. “Arm Flexible Access offers disruptive silicon companies, like Edgewater, the fastest, most cost-effective route to developing their prototypes, allowing them to experiment with ease and design with confidence. We look forward to seeing what Edgewater achieves with access to the world’s most pervasive compute platform.”

Spectrum Slicing works seamlessly with existing Wi-Fi devices across versions 4, 5, and 6, allowing users to experience the benefits of Wi-Fi 7 without requiring costly hardware replacements. This ensures that service providers and vendors can modernize their networks efficiently.

“We’re thrilled to qualify for the Arm Flexible Access program, joining Arm’s world-class ecosystem and accessing the Arm compute platform. This collaboration allows us to take Wi-Fi Spectrum Slicing technology to the next level, delivering superior performance and efficiency to meet the ever-growing demands for connectivity,” said Andrew Skafel, President and CEO of Edgewater Wireless, emphasizing the importance of the new partnership. “Together, we are pushing the boundaries of what Wi-Fi can achieve and opening up new possibilities for users and the industry globally.”
