Microsoft Launches Enhanced Backup Solutions for Microsoft 365

By Stefania Viscusi August 06, 2024

Microsoft (News - Alert) remained committed to providing businesses with the tools they need to safeguard their operations in an increasingly complex digital landscape. The company recently released a new offering that addresses the increasing demand for reliable, scalable, and secure data protection.

The new Microsoft 365 Backup and Microsoft 365 Backup Storage solutions are designed specifically to meet the growing need for enhanced data protection and recovery in the face of rising ransomware attacks and data breaches.

Microsoft 365 Backup offers high-performance backup and recovery services for critical data across OneDrive, SharePoint, and Exchange. It helps maintain business continuity by providing ultra-fast recovery times, and offers the ability to restore large volumes of data up to 20 times faster than traditional backup methods. With backups stored in the Microsoft 365 trust boundary, it also minimizes security risks and ensures that data remains secure.

The solution is accessible through the Microsoft 365 admin center and is available as a pay-as-you-go service, with no additional license requirements.

In addition to its own backup service, Microsoft also introduced the Microsoft 365 Backup Storage platform. This makes it possible for third-party developers to integrate Microsoft’s backup capabilities into their own applications.

The new platform is designed to offer the same high-speed recovery and robust security as the native Microsoft 365 Backup so ISVs can also provide businesses with customized backup solutions.

It partnered with AvePoint, Cohesity (News - Alert), Commvault, Rubrik, Veeam, and Veritas to bring these new backup capabilities to market so businesses can leverage integrated solutions that combine Microsoft 365 data protection with other essential services, all managed through a single interface.
