A Look at Nokia and its New Broadband Easy Connect

By Alex Passett July 31, 2024

Happy Hump Day, readers. Today, we’re covering a story about Nokia.

Previous Nokia (News - Alert)-related articles I penned last year spanned across several sister sites of ours:

And here on Internet Telephony, we covered Nokia having been selected by ISP Metalink to provide fixed wireless access (FWA) and boosted broadband network capacity for rural areas in the Midwest.

Suffice it to say, we’ve stayed busy covering all the developments from teams like Nokia’s, a company that seeks to pioneer breakthroughs in multinational telecommunications, IT and consumer electronics. (They are, after all, the self-described “next evolution of industry game-changers.”)

So, what’s the Nokia story on deck, then?

It’s simple:

Last week, Nokia announced the launch of Broadband Easy Connect, its new subscription-based service designed to help operators streamline and accelerate the process of connecting homes to fiber.

Per the official announcement, subscribing to Nokia’s Broadband Easy Connect “givers operators, their subcontractors, and retailers access to a cloud-based platform that helps automate the process of connecting end users to the fiber network.” (Plus customizable workflow tools, among other perks.) This is basically Nokia providing a.) IT personnel the capabilities to automate processes tied to scheduling customer visits, dispatching engineers and verifying general field operations, and b.) field engineers with access to productivity tools like ONT Easy Start and Optical Link Certifier.

“Nokia’s extensive experience in fiber deployments have helped operators connect over 300 million homes worldwide,” explained Sandra Motley, President of Fixed Networks at Nokia. “With Broadband Easy Connect, we make it simple, fast and cost-effective to set up home fiber installations, leading to happier customers and growing fiber business. Operators can get it right the first time 95% of the time and cut repeat visits in half, speeding up fiber deployment by 20%.”
