Motorola Solutions Launches VESTA NXT 911 Software

By Stefania Viscusi July 10, 2024

Motorola Solutions announced the launch of VESTA NXT, a 911 software designed to enhance call handler speed and efficiency while reducing information overload and stress.

With a virtual response assistant powered by AI, the system can handle non-emergency calls and direct callers to appropriate resources, potentially decreasing call handlers' workloads by 20% to 35%.

VESTA NXT integrates critical data from various public safety systems into a single platform. It utilizes assistive AI to extract and summarize information, enabling call handlers to quickly relay key details to dispatchers. For instance, if a 911 caller on a highway reports a vehicle matching an Amber Alert, VESTA NXT can visualize the caller’s verbal descriptions on a map and create a real-time summary for dispatch.

In medical emergencies, the software can access relevant information from a caller’s Smart911 profile, orchestrating a response that could be life-saving. Additionally, VESTA NXT can quickly provide crucial details for first responders, such as building floor plans or video streams shared by individuals at the scene.

“When a person dials 911, a call handler is inundated with a deluge of data they need to process and verify in seconds before a dispatcher can send out help,” said Todd Piett, corporate vice president of command center technologies at Motorola (News - Alert) Solutions. “We’ve brought the entire call handling workflow under one platform and applied thoughtful design and AI to help sort, surface and synthesize key knowledge. VESTA NXT bridges the information divide between call handler and dispatcher.”

Available as a cloud and on-premises solution, VESTA NXT offers a consistent user experience across desktop, laptop, and tablet devices.

“During an emergency, so many members of the community want to help, which is an amazing thing. Yet all this information places the call handler under a lot of stress to process it and act quickly without missing a key detail,” said John Jokantas, director of Hancock County 911 in Indiana. “Fewer clicks, fewer tabs and not needing to dig for information frees up a call handler to be more present for that caller in their moment of need.”
