"Our Top Five charts are a window into the near real-time, global in-vehicle trends information we can provide broadcasters to help them make programming decisions," said Joe D'Angelo, senior vice president, broadcast at Xperi, who noted that data provided by the portal range from listener heat maps and 24-hour data turn around, to what songs, ads and program segments listeners enjoy the most.

"For the first time, radio can join other markets like mobile and TV in 'big data' to allow them to make data-driven decisions for their stations and to connect with their listeners and get new insights for the sales teams and program managers to increase revenue," continued D'Angelo.

Not surprisingly, of the 54 countries reviewed, in-vehicle listening is dominated by contemporary U.S. and U.K. artists - Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Sam Smith are ranked in the top 20 most listened-to artist by country in the first quarter approximately 40 times, while Ed Sheeran is ranked 35 times. Classic artists such as The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse each show up only twice. Beyonce rules in South Africa with the song 'Cuff It,' but only appears in 15 other country's lists; Lizzo appears in 15, Harry Styles in eight and Dua Lipa in six.

The DTS AutoStage system, the only global automotive independent media delivery platform, is delivering next-generation, AI-powered connected radio, audio and video content for more than 52 connected car models worldwide, seamlessly combining linear broadcast with IP-delivered content that enables a powerfully personalized, in-vehicle infotainment solution.
