Pascarella, who moved from a Global Competition Review 100 firm, brings with him wide-ranging experience in antitrust litigation and counseling. He has represented clients facing investigations, enforcement, and litigation in the United States, Mexico, Columbia, and Europe. His career also includes service with the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division in Washington, D.C., and a dozen years as AT&T's (News - Alert) chief in-house antitrust counsel.

Pascarella has represented clients in many landmark antitrust cases, including Bell Atlantic Corp. v. Twombly, Pacific Bell v. linkLine, and United States v. Microsoft (News - Alert). He has defended some of the largest mergers ever consummated in the United States. He recently also persuaded the Mexican competition authority to rescind a billion-dollar fine it previously had levied for an alleged abuse of dominance. He has advised and represented clients in a wide number of industries including telecommunications, cyber security, manufacturing, media and content, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, online platforms, sports, weapon systems, and ice cream.

"Boutique firms are the wave of the future for antitrust," said Pascarella. "Bona Law's capabilities, agility, and energy levels have made it a significant player in the antitrust law marketplace. I am excited to become part of that."

Lerner moved from Global Competition Review 100 firm Winston & Strawn. He is a global antitrust counselor and litigator who has represented clients before competition enforcers in numerous high-profile U.S. and international criminal and civil cartel investigations involving products such auto parts, carbon fiber, cathode ray tubes, computer components, food flavor enhancers, impact modifiers and processing aids, lysine, and vitamins. He has also defended numerous clients in major multi-district antitrust class actions.

Lerner also has substantial experience defending mergers and acquisitions before the Federal Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Justice for clients across a diverse array of industries including broadcasting, building and construction services, construction, consumer and industrial electronics, cosmetics, financial services, oilfield services, online services, steel, and telecommunications. He has also counseled and enabled clients in these and other industries in virtually all aspects of antitrust and competition risk management.

"I joined Bona Law because it has a clear focus on continuously improving its antitrust expertise and practice while finding the best and most efficient solution to clients' needs," said Lerner.

"Jim Lerner and Pat Pascarella are antitrust heavy hitters with experience that speaks volumes of their depth of knowledge and skill," said Jarod Bona, CEO of Bona Law. "They will each be unique assets to our clients, and we are thrilled that they have decided to join our team."

Bona Law was founded in 2014 and now has offices in San Diego, Minneapolis, Detroit, and New York. It launched its fifth office in Dallas March 1, headed by Pascarella. Lerner will join the firm's New York office. The firm provides its clients services nationwide and internationally in antitrust litigation, merger clearance, distribution issues, complex business litigation, appeals, and challenges to government conduct.
