Jennifer Paugh, president of MIAT College of Technology's Canton, Mich. campus, was recently elected to the Ohio-Michigan Association of Career Colleges and Schools (OMACCS) board of directors. Her term is effective immediately and runs through November 2022. The OMACCS unifies the voices of nearly 300 career colleges and schools to legislators and regulators within the two states.

The OMACCS guiding principles include developing relationships and fostering communication with state, regional, and federal entities; supporting excellence in career education; maintaining ethical and professional standards with the highest integrity; and serving as advocates for career education.

"I'm incredibly excited to further represent the state of Michigan during my term on the OMACCS board and further the interests of the organization as a whole," commented Paugh. "Career education is especially dear to me as I have devoted almost 20 years of my 22 years in higher education specifically to this sector. I am passionate about its future, its impact, and the graduates and industries we continue to support."

OMACCS keeps in regular contact with the state licensing boards of Michigan and Ohio, accrediting cmmissions, and state and regional professional agencies, and provide up-to-the-minute information to the Ohio and Michigan General Assemblies, Ohio Board of Regents, Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, and the U.S. Dept. of Education. The organization also provides student scholarships and tuition assistance to provide higher education opportunities to students who are seeking career education.

"MIAT has long been a leader in trades education most specifically in aviation maintenance, and now with a whole suite of skilled trades programs. Working with the OMACCS board will allow MIAT to leverage our action and influence for positive progress in local legislation and multi-statewide career college support," said Paugh.
