AM Best to Host Webinar on Latin American Country Risk and Reinsurance Perspectives

AM Best will host a complimentary webinar on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020, at 10 a.m. (CDT (News - Alert)) to discuss the rating agency's approach to country risk on companies in Latin America and globally. The COVID-19-driven economic volatility has heightened sovereign credit and country risk concerns. Although AM Best does not issue ratings on government debt, it considers such risks through its country risk analysis, which is factored into all Best's Credit Ratings. As part of evaluating country risk, AM Best identifies the various factors within a country that may directly or indirectly affect an insurance company.

During the event, AM Best analysts will discuss how country risk is being applied to Best's Credit Rating Methodology (BCRM) and Best's Credit Ratings with respect to the economic downturn and hardened conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in Latin America, as well as the impacts on reinsurance companies operating in the region. Register now: www.ambest.com/webinars/countryrisk.

AM Best panelists include:

  • Carlos De la Torre, senior director, business development and operations;
  • Alfonso Novelo, senior director, analytics; and
  • Eli Sanchez, associate director, analytics.

Attendees can submit questions during registration or by emailing [email protected]. The event will be streamed in video and audio formats, and playback will be available to registered viewers shortly after the event.
