Buckingham, EVP and chief people, place and brand officer for Lincoln Financial Group. "Our goal is to empower and engage our people through a culture of diversity and inclusion, learning and collaboration. We are so proud of this recognition, and I would like to thank all of our company's remarkable women for their outstanding contributions!" Since the 1920s, women have held leadership positions at Lincoln Financial Group when Helen Williams, one of the first women in the United States to successfully complete the actuarial exam, joined the company and became a supervisor. And today, as we mark the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, Lincoln holds steadfast in a deep commitment to equality, expanding existing programs and launching new initiatives that underscore its commitment, including:
Today, women comprise 61% of Lincoln's workforce, exceeding industry and government benchmarks. Women hold 50% of all management positions and represent 27% of the board of directors, 33% of the top executive positions and make up 40% of the company's top earners. In February 2020, Lincoln was recognized by 2020 Women on Boards as a leading corporation in board diversity. Forbes' Best Employers for Women have been chosen based on an independent survey from a vast sample of 75,000 U.S. employees, including 45,000 women, working for companies employing at least 1,000 people in their U.S. operatons. In this third annual survey hosted by Statista, respondents were asked about working conditions, atmosphere & development, diversity and how likely they would be to recommend their employer to others. Female respondents were asked to rate the employers on parental leave, family support, discrimination, representation and career and pay equity. The final ranking reflects employers that both received the most recommendations and have the most gender-diverse boards and executive ranks. "We encourage and provide opportunities for women to leverage their strengths to help Lincoln ensure that we remain inclusive and relevant in our workplace, marketplace, and the communities in which we live and work," said Allison Green Johnson, senior vice president of Diversity and Inclusion and Employee Engagement. "A key to our success as an industry leader is our ability to attract, support, promote, and learn from our female talent at all levels of the organization. Understanding this and practicing it every day, we are very proud to be named a 2020 Forbes Best Employer for Women." Lincoln Financial's commitment to its employees is further evidenced by other recent awards, such as the Forbes Best Employers for Diversity for 2019, a perfect score on the 2020 CEI "Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality" and a top score on the 2020 Disability Equality Index®. Additionally, Lincoln Financial is a leader in corporate social responsibility. More details on working at Lincoln Financial can be found on the firm's careers website.
