Learning Undefeated Brings ATLAS Symposium to Morgan State STEM Festival


Learning Undefeated, a nonprofit organization that provides life-changing STEM experiences for high needs communities, today announced that its 2019 ATLAS College & Career Readiness Symposium will take place November 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of the Morgan State STEM Festival. The Symposium gives high school students a chance to explore the new Drop Anywhere Lab, take part in a hands-on workshop and connect with business leaders, colleges, government and potential employers to learn about career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Students have the chance to visit the Drop Anywhere Lab, Learning Undefeated's latest concept in mobile STEM education. The Drop Anywhere Labs are custom-designed STEM learning spaces built from modified shipping containers.

During the Expo, students also will be able to meet with companies offering internship and job opportunities and network with STEM professionals who could connect them with jobs after graduation. More than 50 local companies will be featured in the expo hall, including American Waterworks Association, CFR Engineering, National Cancer Institute, Whiting-Turner Companies, and WR Grace.

Young STEM Professionals Tell All!
Student Center Theater
Young STEM professionals will answer students' burning questions about STEM as a career path in a lively, talk-show style session. Panelists include:

Hands-On Workshop: Crime Scene Investigation at our Borders
Student Center 210 A/B, Second Floor
In this workshop presented by Learning Undefeated, high school students will have the chance to explore the exciting work done by forensic scientists. Hands-on experiments will allow students to see the connection between laboratory science and environmental protection by analyzing amplified shark DNA using gel electrophoresis.

ATLAS is made possible through a partnership with Morgan State University and by the generous sponsorships from AstraZeneca, DAP, Emergent Biosolutions, Pure Technologies, WR Grace, and WSSC.

The ATLAS Symposium is free, and open to all high school students attending the Morgan State University STEM Festival. The festival is open to all middle and high school students, along with their families, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Morgan State University Student Center.
