CHINA NOW Seminar and Workshop: Empowering Middle and High School Teachers about Modern China July 26-27, 20191990 Institute announced that its 7th annual CHINA NOW Seminar and Workshop will take place on July 26-27, 2019, 8am-5 pm, at San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) in Redwood City, CA (News - Alert). The seminar, China on the Move, will present thought-provoking lectures on China today by professors from Stanford University, University of California at Berkeley, University of Southern California, and University of California at Irvine, among others (listed below). Teachers will not only learn about modern China, they will also engage in lesson planning workshops to design how to take these lessons back to their classrooms. 1990 Institute also provides resources on its website to support teachers during and after the seminar, including videos of the speakers, content from the participatory Teachers Workshop, research and robust lesson plans for students. Teachers can attend at no charge, and stipends of $200-400 and Continuing Education Credits may be available. CHINA NOW is co-sponsored by the University of Southern California U.S.-China Institute, and its Executive Director, Clayton Dube, is the moderator of the seminar. The program is also presented in partnership with the San Mateo County Office of Education.
