ISACA to Host Virtual Summit on Data Protection and Privacy

With increasing regulations, such as the European GDPR and California CCPA, and the complexity of data usage across organizations, technology professionals need to track the latest developments. To help inform the professional community, ISACA will discuss data protection and stakeholder privacy issues during a half-day virtual learning opportunity, Virtual Summit - The Future of Data Protection and Privacy.

Sponsored by ACL, Netwrix and OneTrust, the free event will take place Thursday, 21 March 2019, at 10 am EDT/9 am CDT (News - Alert)/7 am PDT/14:00 UTC. IT professionals from all over the world can access the live presentations and connect with their peers while gaining knowledge on the evolving regulatory and compliance environment.

The three sessions within the Virtual Summit - The Future of Data Protection and Privacy will provide attendees with a range of insights and recommendations to improve their organization's risk, control and data protection.

  • Session 1: From GDPR to California Privacy: Managing Cloud Vendor Risk (OneTrust) - As organizations continue to improve their privacy and security programs, streamlining third- and fourth-party vendor risk has become a priority. In this session, attendees will learn how to implement successful vendor risk processes, expedite vendor onboarding, and hear practical advice about automating vendor risk management within a software technology platform.
  • Session 2: Know Your Data - Your Path to Effective Auditing and Data Protection (Netwrix) - Not all data merits the same level of protecion. Attendees will learn how to determine which data are critical and requires protection--and how to then develop an effective strategy for risk mitigation throughout the data lifecycle, from acquisition and storage, to access and modification, to archival and deletion, and how proper data security governance enables new business opportunities.
  • Session 3: Is a Risk-Based Approach to Data Privacy possible? (ACL) - Given the scope of current and future data privacy requirements and the complexity and scale of data usage in organizations, it's widely acknowledged that 100% compliance is not possible. In this session attendees will explore techniques and approaches to understanding and prioritizing data privacy risks in order to achieve "practical compliance" as well as a defensible and effective data privacy posture.

Attendees can participate in a final panel discussion and can earn up to four free continuing professional education (CPE) credits for attending the virtual conference. More information and registration for the virtual summit can be found here.
