NIC Inc.'s RxGov™ Platform to be Featured at HIMSS Annual Conference

NIC (News - Alert) Inc. (Nasdaq: EGOV), the nation's largest provider of digital government solutions, will feature its RxGov prescription drug monitoring platform at the Global Conference & Exhibition of the Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Interoperability Showcase, as well as from the Microsoft (News - Alert) exhibit space at HIMSS.

"The magnitude of the prescription opioid epidemic surpasses many of the crises in our nation's history," said Harry Herington, NIC Inc. Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. "RxGov is the leading technology platform that can assist in battling this epidemic. It is the most transparent and effective solution for government, healthcare providers, law enforcement, and public health officials. HIMSS provides the perfect opportunity to showcase how RxGov will deliver better treatment outcomes and save lives."

RxGov will be the only prescription drug monitoring platform demonstration during the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase, and will be available for the duration of the conference. The RxGov platform will also be on display within the Microsoft exhibit at the HIMSS conference with a live demonstration from the Microsoft exhibit at 2 p.m. EST, Wed., Feb. 13. RxGov uses Platform as a Service functionality of the trusted Microsoft Azure public cloud, such as its cloud-based machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities.

NIC and Microsoft are working together to use technology to empowe people around the world by transforming government interactions. RxGov demonstrates just one of the ways the two companies are working together to increase the impacts actionable data shared across government jurisdictions, state lines, and multiple stakeholders such as law enforcement and public health officials can deliver.

"RxGov is an example of how technology empowers people to make a difference," said Kim Nelson, Executive Director of State and Local Government Solutions at Microsoft. "The use of data powered by Microsoft Azure and Power BI has the potential to help healthcare address this challenging public health issue and improve patient outcomes."

Every day in the United States, nearly 50 people die from an overdose involving prescription opioids. To address this public health crisis, prescription drug monitoring programs are used in nearly every state in the United States to track the prescribing, dispensing, and use of opioids such as hydrocodone and oxycodone. The RxGov PDMP platform includes a variety of industry-leading benefits and features, including complete end-to-end data transparency for healthcare officials, pharmacies, government, and law enforcement, a unique patient matching algorithm, and seamless integration with Electronic Health Records (EHR).

RxGov was recently selected as the secure technology platform to collect information about controlled substances dispensed in the state of Maryland. The Company has been providing PDMP systems and related technology since 2011 in Montana and more recently, Wisconsin. NIC also operates PDMP components in Utah.
