Cyren Integrates Additional Web Security Into Microsoft's Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)

MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Cyren (NASDAQ: CYRN) announced today that it will partner with Microsoft to enable Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) customers to leverage Cyren's cloud-based web security technology. Microsoft enterprise customers using Windows Defender ATP will benefit from Cyren's leading threat intelligence to help protect, detect and respond to threats on Windows endpoints.

Cyren technology
Cyren's cloud-delivered web security technology includes real-time analysis and classification of global threats powered by GlobalViewTM, one of the industry's most comprehensive security clouds.  Customers will apply this powerful technology by defining policies via a simple-to-use policy framework that will be fully integrated into the Windows Defender ATP and its Windows Defender Security Center console. The solution allows IT administrators to offer cloud-enabled, endpoint-based security protection and policy enforcement, eliminating the need for costly secure web gateway appliances.

Service availability
The new integrated offering will initially be made available as a private preview with a select set of enterprise customers during the first half of 2019, with the goal of reaching general availability for all Windows Defender ATP customers later in the year. Once general availability has been reached, Cyren's add-on web security module is expected to become available to Windows Defender ATP enterprise customers as a 30-day free trial via a cloud subscription. At the end of the trial, customers will be able to purchase a cloud subscription and support contract directly from Cyren.

"We are honored to be working with Microsoft to offer advanced web security to their Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection customers," said Lior Kohavi, Chief Technical Officer at Cyren. "The flexibility of the Windows Defender ATP platform to natively integrate our cloud-based service and centrally manage it from a single console provides significant value to short-handed security organizations. In addition, this service may allow CISOs and security architects to re-think the need for their complex and expensive secure web gateway architectures in the future."

In April 2018, Cyren announced a major contract expansion with Microsoft to deliver enhanced anti-phishing technology to Office 365.  Today's latest announcement is independent of the previous contract announcement.
