Hanson was recognized for her role as a change agent, thought leader and mentor in the field of cybersecurity as well as her personal commitment to leave the world a better place. Hanson is an advocate for women in technology. She believes in drawing on diverse viewpoints to solve business challenges and is actively involved in developing young women for futures in technology. During her 15-year career in cybersecurity, she has led global risk and compliance, security operations, incident response, insider threat monitoring and investigation, and information systems.

Hanson is focused on making an impact not only in the cybersecurity industry, but also in impoverished regions of the world. In 2015, she founded Building Without Borders, a non-profit that constructs residential homes in poverty-stricken areas, such as the Dominican Republic.
