Akumina Secures $7.5 Million to Personalize the Digital WorkplaceAkumina, the modern intranet platform powering personalized digital employee experiences, today announced that it has raised $7.5 million in its Series A funding round to empower enterprises with the tools they need to easily build and deploy digital workplaces tailored to any audience or role. The round was led by Richard Berthy and RJB Investments along with strategic investors Avanade, through Accenture (News - Alert) Ventures, and Stage 1 Ventures. Berthy, who serves as the CEO of Foreside Financial Group, has also been named as Akumina's Chairman of the Board. "Businesses have invested heavily in the customer experience for years, but the employee experience hasn't kept up," said Berthy. "Too often, internal resources are stuck working with outdated systems, technologies and information that make it a struggle to serve the business and its customers to their best ability. Akumina is solving that issue with an elegant solution that's not only easy to customize and deploy, but also grows and adapts with a business' changing needs." The Akumina platform replaces shared drives and cluttered intranets with an engaging, centralized hub that works like any modern website, app or dashboard. The platform seamlessly integrates with leading enterprise cloud applications, enabling businesses to quickly create customized, branded and multilingual digital workplaces that put the right information at the right employees' fingertips. With a contextual, collaborative and engaging workplace experience, every user on any device is able to do their job more efficiently and seamlessly. For example, the World Champion Boston Red Sox have a relatively lean full-time staff that more than triples in size during the regular season with game-day resources. Ensuring those new employees can get up-to-speed quickly so they can effectively engage with fans is critical. Akumina has had a banner year, with 191 percent year-over-year annual recurring revenue growth. The company's bookings have increased 192 percent year-over-year from Q3 2017, as its digital workplace platform continues to unify technology and drive employee engagement with large enterprises across a litany of verticals such as telecom, life sciences, retail and financial services. Akumina's achievements recently earned it recognition as Intranet Choice for the Digital Workplace in ClearBox Consulting's 2019 report. "Stagnant workplace technology has been a huge drain on both productivity and employee satisfaction," said David Maffei, president and CRO at Akumina. "Akumina was founded on a simple, yet powerful belief that empowering employees through technology will increase engagement and keep employees informed and productive. We're excited to put this new funding to work as we deliver on that vision with cutting-edge solutions that enterprises can use to give employees the context and content they need to do amazing things."
