Cardinal Innovations Healthcare earns NCQA Full Accreditation for Managed Behavioral Health Organization and the Long Term Services and Support Distinction

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare, a leading managed care organization (MCO) serving individuals with complex needs, announced it has been awarded Full Accreditation for Medicaid Managed Behavioral Health Organizations (MBHO) as well as the Distinction for Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Cardinal Innovations has maintained MBHO accreditation since 2010, and recently added the Distinction for Long Term Services and Supports, renewing its longstanding commitment to provide members with access to high-quality care.

NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to assessing and reporting on the quality of managed care plans, managed behavioral healthcare organizations, preferred provider organizations, new health plans, physician organizations, credentials verification organizations, disease management programs and other health-related programs. MHBO Accreditation through NCQA evaluates how well a health plan manages all parts of its delivery system-physicians, hospitals, other providers and administrative services-in order to continuously improve health care for its members.

"Cardinal Innovations Healthcare's MBHO Accreditation is proof that it's an organization which works hard to coordinate care, provide access and good customer support for members," said Margaret E. O'Kane, NCQA President. "It's a sign that Cardinal Innovations is focused on improving the behavioral health of its members." Cardinal Innovations' score this year was its highest to date.

The LTSS distinction is based on an organization's ability to demonstrate the effective coordination of services between caregivers, individuals, LTSS providers and clinicians. According to NCQA, organizations that coordinate LTSS should implement best practices for person-centered care planning and effective care transitions, and for measuring quality improvement to support people living optimally in their preferred setting. Crdinal Innovations achieved the distinction for Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) for the first time.

"Our mission is to improve the health and wellness of our members, and this accreditation demonstrates that we do that with the highest standards and an absolute commitment to quality," said Trey Sutten, CEO of Cardinal Innovations. "Cardinal is the first LME/MCO in the state to achieve NCQA accreditation, and I am proud of our talented, hard-working teams for meeting the high standards put in place by this program."
