Starmind Announces New CEO, New York Office, Humanitarian AI Efforts

NEW YORK and FRANKFURT and ZURICH, Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Starmind the Swiss company infusing artificial intelligence with neuroscience to break the barriers limiting true human and organizational collaboration, today entered their next chapter with the announcement of its new CEO, Oliver Muhr.

Fresh off of a $15M USD funding round, Muhr will lead Starmind into a new phase of growth, marked by the opening of their US office in New York and their expansion into the humanitarian and consumer sectors.

The new office is focused on directing the company's efforts to bring Starmind's technology, which is already utilized by global corporations such as Telefonica and Swisscom, to additional tier-1 clients in the U.S. market.

Muhr joins Starmind after three years at the fast-growing Berlin SaaS scale-up, Seerene. Prior to that, as a General Manager for Fortune 500 company SunGard, he led multiple successful portfolio SaaS businesses across Europe, Asia, and the United States and his experience ranges from early-stage venture capital rounds to later-stage private-equity-backed businesses. He assumes the role of CEO from Peter Waser, who played a vital role in Starmind's development into a promising AI-tech company and spearheaded the efforts behind its last raise of capital.

Alongside Starmind's growth as a global AI innovator, Muhr will oversee the advancement of a number of recent partnerships with global humanitarian causes and organizations including:

  • The International Committee of the Red Cross, where Starmind's technology allows aid workers across the world to share knowledge and work more efficiently. Starmind's technlogy saves them time by finding solutions within only two hours for almost 50% of the arising questions.
  • DS21, a support organization for the families of individuals with Down Syndrome, where Starmind's technology facilitates the sharing of knowledge among experts and caretakers
  • RISK TALK, a UN-backed platform for information sharing amongst those looking to insure against the risks of climate change

"I am incredibly excited to have Oliver join Starmind and bring our company's mission into its next phase," said Pascal Kaufmann, CXO and a Founder of Starmind.  "We believe that Starmind's underlying technology has applications across the globe, in any context where a problem could be better solved with immediate access to a massive repository of knowledge. Oliver is the right person to make that vision a reality."

"Starmind is a company that's poised to make a substantial impact on the world stage now that its fundamentals have been tried and tested," said Muhr. "I'm excited to join the team at this crucial time and help scaling Starmind into a global player by democratizing knowledge within corporations, communities or for consumers."

"The beauty of Starmind's AI algorithms that are based on neuroscientific principles is its vast usage potential," said Marc Vontobel, Founder & CTO of Starmind. "Whether you're a creative professional looking for collaboration on a new project, a scientific researcher who needs additional knowledge from a vast team, or a humanitarian worker who needs assistance in a dire situation, Starmind can help. Starmind gives a single person the power of their entire organization or community at their disposal."
