Winning 2018 Global Student Entrepreneur Award is Music to DJ Aaron Morales's Ears

At the awards event held on November 8th at Américas restaurant in Houston, Aaron Morales, a 22-year-old U of H student with a DJ entertainment business, took top honors in the annual Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA).

Upon winning the competition, Morales, a double-major in entrepreneurship and marketing at U of H's Wolff Center For Entrepreneurship, said, "Competing in the GSEA has been an amazing experience, as I got to further develop not only my business goals as a company, but also my presentation skills! Having a great idea and a great product is wonderful, but you also have to know how to market it. I would encourage any student who is also an entrepreneur to compete."

Houston's GSEA is an annual competition sponsored by the Houston chapter of Entrepreneur's Organization (EO), a global network of entrepreneurs dedicated to nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit among college students and providing real-world skills, mentorship and connections to help highly motivated students succeed. The competitionis open to all undergraduate and graduate college/university students who have owned and operated a business for at least six months. Winning the Houston competition gives Morales the opportunity to advance to the national GSEA and perhaps to the finals in Macau in 2019.

Robert De Los Santos, EO's Houston GSEA Chair, is rightly proud of Houston's opportunities for young, entrepreneurial students. He said, "We also have some of the best educational opportunities for these students, with Princeton Review ranking University of Houston's undergraduate entrepreneurial studies program #2 in the nation, and Rice University's graduate program also #2, nipping at Harvard's heels."

Morales's Houston-based enterprise, A.M. Productions, is a 5-star rated mobile DJ service specializing in wedding and corporate entertainment, offering DJ Services, Lighting, Photo-Booths and more.

"We bring the excitement of the club to weddings, school dances, birthday parties or any other event," adds Morales. "Houston is a town that loves to throw parties, making it the perfect market for A.M. Productions. The $3,500 cash award donated by Houston EO members that comes with winning in Houston will help us expand the services we offer and grow the business. But even more importantly, the mentoring and networking opportunities that come with competing in the GSEA have been invaluable, increasing my business knowledge and providing contacts I never would have had otherwise."

The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) is an international program of Entrepreneur's Organization (EO), a global network of entrepreneurs helping the seeds grow in Houston and throughout the world with a membership of 13,000 entrepreneurs in 57 countries and more than 3.4 million employees worldwide. In Houston alone, EO's members include 163 CEOs from just about every industry, average per-company sales of $2.5 million, and 4,802 total employees.
