American Water Employees Volunteer Throughout Camden During Annual Month of Service
American
Water (NYSE: AWK), the nation's largest publicly traded water and
wastewater utility company, is embarking on a series of volunteer
efforts in Camden, NJ as part of its companywide AmerICANs in Action!
Month of Service throughout September. Ahead of the company's move into
its new Waterfront headquarters this fall, employees are volunteering
throughout Camden to support local nonprofits in a range of projects,
from painting and cleaning local nonprofit buildings to mentoring local
youth and sprucing up public spaces.
"We are committed to helping those we serve every day of the year, and
our AmerICANs in Action! Month of Service is a great opportunity for
American Water employees across the country to support the neighborhoods
where we work and live," said Susan Story, president and chief executive
officer of American Water. "This year, employees working in South Jersey
are particularly excited to show our support of the Camden community and
get to know our new neighbors better as we gear up to move our
headquarters there this fall."
Since August, more than 150 employees have signed up to volunteer their
time to support a range of Camden nonprofits. Scheduled events include:

September 18: Nearly two dozen employees will spend time at UrbanPromise
of Camden, NJ to help organize the youth programs storage area and
assist with their flower bulb planting beautification project.

September 18: A group of engineering project managers will
visit the Ronald McDonald House in Camden to make breakfast for those
who are staying at the house while their family members receive
medical treatment.

September 18 & 26: LUCY Outreach, which empowers youth to
develop into compassionate and socially responsible adults who make a
positive difference in their community. Dozens of American Water
employees will visit the organization's new home across from Woodrow
Wilson High School to clean, organize n decorate the historic
building to make it feel more like home for youth involved in the
program.

September 19: Volunteers from American Water will help with
outside cleanup around the Salvation Army KROC Center campus to
increase the overall curb appeal - not only of the KROC Center, but of
Cramer Hill's Harrison Avenue as well.

September 25: A dozen engineers will help support job
development skills for youth at Hopeworks 'N Camden when they conduct
mock interviews and review resumes in the daylong volunteer event. The
employees will also work in the Hopeworks garden.

September 26: A group of engineers from American Water will
help with the rebuild of a home in Camden through Habitat for Humanity
(Camden).

September 27: Employee volunteers will visit the Boys & Girls
Club of Camden County to help with painting window murals, stuff
fundraising envelopes, and clean common spaces.

September 28: American Water employees will participate in a
beautification project in Wiggins Waterfront Park directly in front of
the company's new Camden headquarters, during which they will spruce
up areas of the Promenade from Pearl Street to RCA Pier.
AmerICANs in Action! continues the company's efforts to create a
lasting, positive impact for the customers and the communities the
company serves as part of its ongoing Corporate
Responsibility program. In its eighth year, this effort encourages
teams of employees across the U.S. to volunteer in the communities where
they live and work.
