"WSU has always been committed to providing high-quality educational opportunities worldwide," said Dr. Rebecca Van de Vord, Assistant Vice President at Washington State University Global Campus. "Examity's comprehensive approach to proctoring reflects our commitment to using technology to create secure, high-quality learning environments for all students."

WSU currently requires online proctoring for as many as 18,000 exams per year – a number that is expected to grow by 20% over the next seven years. The rise of online learning at WSU reflects the expansion of online higher education nationwide: according to the National Center for Education Statistics, more than 6 million college students – nearly one-third of the total student population – took at least one distance learning course in 2016.

"Online learning has tremendous potential to expand educational opportunities for students who have historically been locked out of higher education. This rapid growth of online programs necessitates an increased focus on quality and integrity," said Michael London, Founder and CEO of Examity. "We look forward to supporting Washington State University in its mission to provide flexible, secure -- and high-quality -- online experiences."

Founded in 2013, Examity was the only platform to provide live, record-and-review, and fully automated proctoring options. Recently named the sixth fastest-growing company in Massachusetts, the company works with a diverse cross-section of postsecondary institutions and online learning providers including Northeastern University, Texas A&M, and Indiana University to provide proctoring solutions driven by AI and machine learning technology.
