The 2018 honorees will be recognized during the NACD Directorship 100 Gala on Nov. 28 in New York City. On the Citizens board, Higdon is an independent director and member of the Audit and Compensation & Human Resources committees. He also currently serves on the board of Encompass Health Corp., where he is non-executive chairman, and on the board of Eaton (News - Alert) Vance, where he is lead director. He spent 20 years at Salomon Brothers, where he was an investment banker before rising to vice chairman. He then moved into higher education, serving as dean of the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and then as president of Babson College and president of College of Charleston. He most recently served as president of Connecticut College before retiring in 2013. Higdon's past corporate and non-profit board appointments have included Chemtura Corporation, ewmont Mining, Bestfoods, Georgetown University, Mt. Holyoke College, the Brooklyn Museum of Art and Africare. He received his B.A. from Georgetown University and M.B.A. from the University of Chicago following two years in the Peace Corps.
