Distributed Credit Chain and Oxford Saïd Business School Establish Academic Partnership to Cultivate Blockchain Research

Stewie Zhu, an alumnus of the Oxford MSc in Financial Economics (2009) and founder and CEO of Distributed Credit Chain (DCC), has collaborated with Oxford Saïd to create the DCC Career Development Fellow, a new fellowship position, which will be funded by a donation from DCC. The fellowship will undertake research to produce insights into the fintech sector, which will specifically focus on the regulation and governance of cryptocurrency and the application of blockchain technology in the banking and finance industry. The Career Development Fellow's work will be supervised by Alan Morrison, Professor of Law and Finance at Saïd Business School.

Founded by Mr. Zhu, Distributed Credit Chain is the world's first public distributed banking blockchain platform, and its goal is to establish a decentralised ecosystem for financial service providers around the world. By empowering credit with blockchain technology and returning ownership of data to individuals, DCC and Mr. Zhu intend to create a more inclusive financial system, which could transform financial outcomes across the world.

A serial entrepreneur in the internet and fintech industry, Mr. Zhu was CEO of leading Chinese SaaS (News - Alert) financial technology company TN Tech before he founded DCC.

Mr Zhu commented: 'I am thrilled to form a partnership with Saïd Business School of Oxford University and launch this blockchain research fellowship that will help in truly shaping the future of how we apply this technology in banking and finance. Oxford gave me a solid foundation to pursue my goals as an entrepreneur and now on behalf of the team at DCC, it is our time to give back to the next generation of innovators that will use this program to advance us further into a globally inclusive financial world.'

Peter Tufano, Dean of Saïd Business School, commented: 'New technologies such as blockchain and cryptocurrencies are transforming the way we interact with finance. It is vital that we understand the impact of these changes while exploring how the regulatory and governance environment can adapt to them. Mr. Zhu's generous donation will ensure that Saïd Business School is at the forefront of fintech research.'
