The 12-week part-time bootcamp is being offered to women who are Michigan residents, and will train students for the high-growth, high-demand role of an entry-level .NET (News - Alert)(C#) developer. TEKsystems and Grand Circus expanded the program to Grand Rapids after the success of its inaugural DEVELOP(her) program launched in Detroit and Flint last year. The expansion is also made possible with support from THE SOURCE.

The DEVELOP(her) bootcamp is designed to provide the skills necessary to earn a career as an entry-level software developer, and complements this education with mentorship provided by the Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT). The goal of the program is to increase the number of wome in the tech industry and support them as they grow in their roles.

"Grand Circus is committed to making a tech career more accessible and we're proud of the impact DEVELOP(her) has had in eastern Michigan. Growing our local partnerships in western Michigan has helped us bring the training program to Grand Rapids, and we're excited to help even more women launch a tech career path," said Damien Rocchi, CEO and co-founder of Grand Circus.

The Women's Resource Center and THE SOURCE, two organizations dedicated to providing employment opportunities and resources, will be working closely with Grand Circus to connect women interested in an IT career with the program. The class will accept 12 women to receive 12 weeks of training, including two weeks of mandatory pre-work and 10 weeks of on site, instructor-led education. This training will be followed by a career mentorship program in conjunction with the MCWT.

In addition to assisting with the free tuition, TEKsystems will assign recruiters to work one-on-one with students to provide professional insights on interview tips and techniques, resume creation, networking in their new career, and will work to find them placement in an environment they can flourish in with their new skill sets.

"We're excited to support programs like DEVELOP(her) that enable people to pursue IT as a profession. The West Michigan economy continues to thrive and with the IT unemployment rate so low, access to talent is the most important resource for business and continued economic expansion," says Jon Carpenter, Director of Business Operations for TEKsystems' Grand Rapids offices. "That's why it's so important we find ways to expand the talent pool by committing to providing those who want a career in IT an open door and the resources to achieve their goals."

Grand Circus' bootcamps are intensive learning experiences that emphasize workplace needs like teamwork, paired programming and cutting-edge technical skills. Over the course of the bootcamps, students establish a strong, work-ready understanding of front-end or back-end programming and are positioned to start their career as entry-level developers.

The DEVELOP(her) bootcamp kicks off Tuesday, September 12, with applications closing at noon July 20. Applicants must be women who are Michigan residents and passionate about launching a career in technology. Training and networking events will be held at Start Garden in Grand Rapids.
