Garland Power & Light Selects PCI's Energy Transaction and Risk Management Platform

Power Costs, Inc. (PCI (News - Alert)) announced today that Garland Power & Light (GP&L), a locally owned municipal utility in the City of Garland, Texas, has selected PCI's enterprise platform solution to support the utility's energy transaction and risk management functions in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).

PCI will be implementing its Generation Supply Management System (GSMS) platform that includes multiple modules such as the Market Interface, Deal Management, Risk Management, Contract Settlements (and others) that address GP&L's requirements in a single integrated web-based platform. With PCI's industry-leading solution, GP&L will be able to fully automate its Front, Mid and Back Office workflows. The PCI platform optimizes a variety of energy portfolios and is utilized by several companies that together comprise approximately 60 percent of U.S. generation capacity.

"Upon extensive evaluation, multiple demonstrations, and in-depth technical review of several solutions in the market, we found the PCI platform to be the most comprehensive and configurable for managing our unique business needs," said Dan Bailey, Energy Services Director at GP&L. "PCI's staff has a thorough understanding of subtle aspects of ERCOT market operations, along with their willingness to carve out a tailored solution for us, were the key factors in our decision."

With this selection, PCI further extends its leadership position in the ERCOT market. PCI solutions are used by various types of market participants, including classic utilities, independent power producers (IPP), municipals & co-ops, trading houses, large industrials and others in all North American energy markets.

"We are proud to have GP&L as our new customer and value the trust they have placed in PCI for a long-term strategic partnership," said Shailesh Mishra, Senior Director at PCI. "Our experience in working with several ERCOT clients for more than 20 years and delivering value everyday has been an instrumental milestone for us. It reinforces PCI's customer-driven core value."
