Baidu rolls out self-driving cars [China Daily: Hong Kong Edition]

[Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]     Five self-driving vehicles had their test runs outside the event venue at Baidu's headquarters in Beijing. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]   The cars were developed by Wuhan University, Beijing Union University, Beijing Institute of Technology, the Military Transportation University and a team led by Li Deyi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. [[Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]   Equipped with cameras, radars, GPS, navigation equipment and computers, the next-generation cars completed a round trip of around 200 meters one after another without drivers. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn] The first passengers of the driver-less journey included senior executives of Baidu's Institute of Deep Learning, which is the Chinese equivalent to Google's X Labs.
